There will only be a few routes for East Liberty. With the East Busway having a station in East Liberty, and a number of other routes that run through East Liberty, it is well more serviced than what might be expected. East Liberty will be given the designation of 15. The following routes will service East Liberty.
- 15: Garfield Commons
- 151E: Homewood – Squirrel Hill
- E151: Fifth Avenue
15: Garfield Commons
The 15: Garfield Commons will replace the 89: Garfield Commons in every aspect with the exception of the designation. This will allow people living in Garfield to have a sustainable connection with the rest of the bus network easily and effectively.
151E: Homewood – Squirrel Hill
The 151E: Homewood – Squirrel Hill will replace the 74: Homewood – Squirrel Hill in its entirety. And since Squirrel Hill is being serviced by a few routes, there is no need to have a designation for this community. The 151E: Homewood – Squirrel Hill will also connect with the East Busway for easier access to Downtown, and Oakland without the need to rely on other routes. With that being said, the 151E: Homewood – Squirrel Hill is a ideal secondary route, it shows what can be done to reduce the number of primary routes since the E1: East Busway will always provide service from East Liberty to Downtown.
E151: Fifth Avenue
The E151: Fifth Avenue will be a new route that would be straightforward and offer an Oakland Corridor route since there will be a fewer frequency from other primary routes that would go through Uptown, and into Downtown. The E151: Fifth Avenue will start at East Liberty Garage, and connect to Penn Avenue. The E151: Fifth Avenue will then connect to Fifth Avenue, and will serve the entire length of Fifth Avenue all the way through Oakland, Uptown, and into Downtown. This route will be able to operate in a frequency that would make sense to the needs of the riders.
On the outbound trip, the E151: Fifth Avenue will exit Downtown via Forbes. The E151: Fifth Avenue will remain on Forbes until Jumonville where the E151: Fifth Avenue will turn on to the Fifth Avenue bus lane. The E151: Fifth Avenue will then serve Fifth Avenue all of the way through Oakland, and into East Liberty where the E151: Fifth Avenue will use Penn Avenue to connect with East Liberty Garage.
